Created in 1982 by the director of an advertising company, Marité Mabragaña, La Chocotorta arose from the need to unite two of her clients' products: Mendicream Cream Cheese and Bagley's Chocolina.
The recipe is simple and delicious: the cookies are soaked with port, dulce de leche is mixed with cream cheese, the cookies are spread forming a layer and then another layer, and another layer, and another layer.
